Provide localized climate data and translate it into actionable advice: Welcome to ACLIMATAR, which is designed to enable field officers and extensionists to better understand site-specific climate-change impacts and future-oriented climate-adaptation options. Our innovative tool provides you with the ability to visualize geospatial climate data that is site-specific, understand the risks and threats to cocoa, coffee and tea farming, to explore adaptation options, and to decide on a climate adaptation strategy and elaborate a specific adaptation plan for your farmers. Thereby, we support you in ensuring future farm productivity and farmers’ livelihoods under climate change and taking a forward looking and data-driven approach. Follow our 5-step approach to start your journey towards climate resilient farming.
Follow our 5 simple steps to obtain a personalized list of adaptation options for the climatic risks at your location of interest and build local climate resilience:
Using the platform is free of charge. The data and list of practices can be stored online or downloaded as a pdf report for offline use, providing you with flexibility and convenience in accessing the information needed.
Climate change is already altering the growing conditions under which cocoa, coffee and tea are farmed, with direct implications on the smallholder farmers’ lives. Global climate models and projections, however, are often abstract and hard to be used in a decision-orientated way. ACLIMATAR breaks down these global models, downscales them to local relevance and connects the risk insides to available adaptation options.
ACLIMATAR displays past, current (as of data available July 2023) and projected future (mid-century) climatic data to enable climate adaptation planning and visualize the already ongoing processes of climate change. And even though the future (mid-century) may seem a long way into the future, with perennial crops staying in production for years, the decision taken now will influence the future we will have to live with – with ACLIMATAR being able to provide basic orientation.
ACLIMATAR enables extension services to move beyond generic climate messaging by grounding advice in localized projections and crop-specific risk indicators. The tool can be used to illustrate climate risks, analyses projected patterns of change and propose viable adaptation options. This strengthens trust with farmers and supports more targeted discussions on management options, helping climate information become actionable rather than abstract.
Explore the full StoryBy visualizing future risks alongside practical adaptation options, ACLIMATAR helps sustainability initiatives contextualize resilience within existing production systems. This alignment supports more meaningful engagement with producers and ensures that climate adaptation becomes an integrated part of certification pathways rather than an additional compliance burden.
Explore the full StoryACLIMATAR provides a credible evidence base for project formulation, allowing teams to link projected climate impacts with targeted interventions and expected outcomes. This improves proposal quality, facilitates partner alignment, and strengthens the case for investment in climate-resilient agriculture.
Explore the full StoryLocalized climate intelligence can catalyze collective reflection and planning by making future change tangible and relatable. ACLIMATAR supports this process by translating complex projections into visuals that stimulate discussion, encourage knowledge exchange, and foster locally led adaptation thinking.
Explore the full StoryAs a reusable climate data infrastructure, ACLIMATAR allows partners to build specialized applications without duplicating analytical effort. This accelerates innovation, ensures scientific consistency across tools, and expands the reach of climate intelligence into diverse decision-making contexts — from breeding strategies to farm-level renovation planning.
